Hi,

Anyone know where I can obtain the latest firmware for a Telkom issued DSL-2750U ADSL modem?

I'm hoping a reply here will be quicker then calling Telkom :D

Yeah I seen that - but got this reply from Dlink SA :

Hi Rishalin

You need to contact Telkom support or tellumat for the latest firmware for you DSL-2750U.

The latest on the Telkom units is 1.63.

So the best will be to go to Telkom or tellumat support.

I have the firmware version 1.65 rar archive. Tried to find the ftp link where I got it from but without success.

Edit:

Uhm Here it is

As D-Link said, the official supplier is Tellumat. Here is the link to the officially supported firmware. There used to be a warning on D-Links's ftp site that you might brick your Telkom router with their firmware, but I see that both the firmware and the warning is now gone. I installed both versions of the firmware to try to fix the problem with dropped wi-fi connections, but there seems to be a inherent problem with the modem, I just resorted to using a cable connection.

I have successfully installed the latest DLink 1.65 firmware on a Telskum provided router, no problems.

My only piece of advice regarding the dropped Wi-Fi connections, is change the channel to 12.

Channels only go up to 9 on the Advanced Wireless Settings? Besides that, I have two problems. 3 or 4 times a day the laptop will lose the connection, sometimes it reconnects but at other times I have to reset the router. It also happens that the wireless setting are lost, one moment you're still connected, the next it's gone  When I look at the settings there is no wireless setup and I have to set it up again. This is the first modem that I had problems with since the original Telkom router 6 years ago. The only advantage is the printer server which works quite well, otherwise I would've taken it back long time ago!

I previously had the same connection drop issue. Updated to 1.65 with my wifi channel at 9 and so far I've had about 6 days uptime from when I had a power failure. :)

For other users, I Googled this and came to this old thread.

I just upgraded my Telkom unit 2750U with firmware 1.72 (DSL-2750U_Firmware_AF_1.72_R01_LATEST 2013/10/21 ) from the FTP site but I used the retail version (non Telkom firmware) of the 2750U firmware and it works fine.

The FTP path I used was ftp://ftp.d-link.co.za/dsl2750u%20%28Retail%29/

I thought that the original Telkom firmware on the device would be Telkom bloatware rubbish with no features/disabled but it was the standard Dlink firmware with all the settings open as if it was a retail unit. So this lead me to believe that it is in fact the same retail unit, HW version, chipset etc.

Glad I can update with standard firmware as Telkom doesn't offer firmware updates or barely if any.
