Samsung Galaxy Note 2 South African pricing and launch date

Cheaper than what I'm currently paying for my note 1 which is R399/pm and 250mb of data. Argggg I hate you vodacom!!!
 
Hmmm.. tempting. Especially with the recent price decrease of the S3 on FNB.

Already decided against the iPhone 5 (had the 3G and 4), but this is mighty tempting ... and I'm up for renewal now.
 
This is awesome news. Have the Note 1 and was considering going for the Nokia 920 but staying with the Note series makes most sense for me. I love the Note "phablets". The new Note 2 is not much of an upgrade but I'm due for one so I can just as well give it a go.
 
The problem with all the deals are they are data deals and you won't be able to make phone calls!

I just got the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 P6800 and I had to go with a Smart Light package rather than a MyGig package because Vodacom refuses to allow phone calls on the MyGig packages. #!@#@!# useless.
 
Nice phone if you like that sort of thing. Looks a lot better than the first Note.
 
Wow, this is frustrating....According to Vodacom website the Note 2 supposed to be available at Vodaworld from today (2-10-2012). I tried phoning (eventually when I did get through - phoning Vodaworld sucks--poor service), the switchboard knew ABSOLUTELY nothing (even the existence) about the Note 2, she tried to patch me through to Vodashop and it never went through (as usual). I managed to get hold of Samsung in Vodaworld and they say it will only be available locally in a 'few weeks' time....Man, does anyone there know ANYTHING!!!

All the information that has been teased until now said they'd only be launching at Vodaworld from tomorrow.

That said, I have also struggled to get through to either of the Vodacom shops (4U and "Shop") at times. Just rings and rings. Have had the same problem with mostly randomly chosen MTN stores I've been calling the last few days.
 
Check www.vodacom.co.za and read the right-hand side of very first ad at the top about the Galaxy Note 2:

"AVAILABLE AT VODACOM WORLD FROM 2 OCTOBER AND 5TH OCTOBER AT OTHER PARTICIPATING OUTLETS."

I wrote to Vodacom this morning and this is the response I got:
"Kindly be advised as per communications that we received the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (N7100) will be made available the first week of October 2012, we regrettably do not have an exact date. The colours will be grey and white depending on stock availability."


It's surprising how a large company such as Vodacom can't get a simple thing right. Looks like they haven't heard of the concept of 'proof-reading' and 'staff training'.
