Android 4.2 reveal may happen end of October

What the hell? Most phones don't even have 4 Yet!!!!

Damn OEM's better move their asses, then again that is what happens when you let "locked down", "Red taped filled" corporate world meet Open Source.

Thankfully 4.2 is looking to address this...

Customization Center
The alleged new Customization Center provides a central place where users can change languages, backgrounds, launchers, ringtones, etc. The options can be expanded via Google Play as well, but this announcement alone is nothing more than a convenience for users who frequently play with these settings. However, there are two unique features rumored to be included: filters that modify the entire look of the UI and templates that change the appearance of all icons.
But the truly drool-worthy feature is the ability to switch from custom skins like TouchWiz and Sense into stock Android through the Customization Center. If the manufacturer doesn’t provide a compatible version of its modified UI then the device defaults to stock Android. To make it crystal clear, we will no longer have to wait on manufacturers to upgrade to the latest version of Android.

If my next phone is an Android, it will most definitely be a Nexus. Tired of OEMs and their BS. Fool me thrice, shame on me :o
 
I see Jelly Bean 4.1.2 is now officially rolling out to all Nexus 7 owners.

Gotto love Google. :)
 
Android users can't keep up with the speed of the Android rollouts, I think google should sometimes just refresh the OS instead aiming for the world record

Thats is not Google's doing, in fact they slowing the true progress.

You should see the rate True Open Source Cycle.

I don't quite understand why users need to keep up? You buy a device with the software it comes with. It does not make sense to me to slow down the development of the complete OS (disadvantage to new users) just because some existing users always want to run the latest and greatest.

If you know you have the need to always run the latest, get a Nexus. The solution is not to slow down the complete process for everyone else.

I will this evening be upgrading my HOX to custom rom running 4.1.2.
