You do not do a connectivity port comparison, which is a very important part of decision making.

For instance, even if the Surface doesn't have 3G one can simply plug in a 3G modem and get internet connectivity on the fly. Something that an iPad user with a Wifi only version would not be able to do.

Surface has various connectivity ports such as USB, HDMI and mini-HDMI if I am not mistaken about the HDMI.

I'm pretty sure the camera comparison is incorrect. You are comparing the Surface video recording to the other tablets' photo quality.
For example, my phone can only take 720p video, but takes 8MP photos. Likewise the iPad cannot record videos at 5MP.

Microsoft describe the front and rear cameras as being 720p so at 16:9 thats slightly less than 1mp.

Ram and camera of galaxy note is incorrect

Thanks, I've updated the table. Not sure how the error creeped in.

It has micro-HDMI, but I'm not sure about Windows RT having drivers for every USB 3G modem out there. Is that a confirmed feature? It'll probably have support for mass storage devices, keyboards, and mice, but other USB devices won't necessarily work. I see it's already been confirmed that some printers won't work.

^ What Bwana said. The cameras may very well take higher resolution photos than 720p, but all we've got to go on right now are the official specs.

... and then there will soon be the Nexus 10 made by Samsung running Android 4.2 ...

Must admit its odd to have a tablet price teartown against the Surface and not include the Eee Pad (300 or prime)

As they both include keyboard docks as well and I would say falls in the same market segment, well more so than the Samsung range.

I bought two Eee Pad 300's with 3G and keyboard dock ... and I am not impressed. Too much cheap-feeling plastic. The one unit intermittently gives "sim not inserted" error messages and requires a reboot to see the sim again. The Infinity series will be a better product to use in a comparison.

I am exited to see what the Nexus 10 will bring. The tablet Android fans have been waiting for.

There fixed it for you. Its only a matter of time. It is a Windows tablet after all.

The one thing that blows all other tablet out of the water is productivity. You decided to skip that part of the discussion.

This is Surface's (and other Win8 tabs') trump card. With touch friendliness integrated into the entire OS, which is what was lacking in Windows tablets, Windows tablets are really leaving nothing uncovered. No compromise.

And excuse me. Isn't the title of this discussion "Windows vs iPad vs Android tablets?"

Surface is not the only Windows tablet out there.

Personally, I prefer the Samsung Ativ Smart PC 11.6'' with 4G (LTE), stylus and a docking station. Now thats no compromise.

I'm not sure how I could be more productive on a surface rt tablet than I am on my iPad, particularly in the photo editing realm.

^ Hahahahaha

You do know that the RT or shall we call it the Arm version does not have access to the entire windows 8 productivity mumbo jumbo?

I see The verge was right. So much so that its going to hurt Microsoft. (PS I have stock riding on this one so do not want it to fail)

I've been confronted by a lot of people convinced the RT will be able to run windows pc apps and you could see the disappointment in their faces when they were confronted with the reality of the situation.

Microsoft is going to get hurt - and potentially in a big way (ie Class Action) - as just about everybody out there has an established expectation that the new Windows tablets will run Windows software and is therefore the tablet to wait for. I have people here at work telling me this all the time ("Why use Android when we can soon get a Windows tablet that will run all our existing software?"). That Verge article got it right. MS is not telling the whole truth out there. A lot of people is going to be seriously p'ed off.

Of course not, they wouldn't sell any otherwise, oh wait they have a snappy advert for it that'll convince consumers its something they need.
