Windows 8 Pro upgrade for R299 now available online!

How can it be a con fooling us if Microsoft are doing the "Download" deal. Rather just drop your prices I prefer a disk. ;)

Sorry I meant to say that ours is with media included - was in hurry when I typed as it has been a hectic day again today
stocks will be in on 29th October 2012 but you need to come in at Mignight to place you order only if you in Midrand

Go all the way to midrand to place an order? No way, :D why can we not pre-order online?

will work on something a bit later but not on the Microsoft 8 upgrade as that is already below our cost and we only getting in 500 units
on the first batch

You are way ahead of me :D Seems like you'll have to install the original OS again. But that bodes the question if it will allow you to upgrade again. I reinstall at least twice a year, so that's a bit of a bother.

my thoughts exactly, if you are a formatoholic like me, you dont want to install xp/vista/7 everytime to install win8 :(

Just to confirm something I don't quite understand. You have to install the update through a installer inside your current windows right? During this installation will it give you a option at some point to format a partition for a fresh install? I don't want old windows system files lying around, I want a totally fresh install?
A question for my laptop where I still require windows 7 for a couple of months, do you think I'll be able to install the windows 8 update as a dual boot on a different partition?

The upgrade option is gay, what happens if later down the line you are forced to reinstall? Would you have to go through the same shlep of installing say xp, then win8?

I'm sure there will be a tool in windows 8 allowing you to build a install DVD or package for a flash drive, if not it will really be stupid to go through the shlep of installing your old OS before you can install 8 again. Ah well, guess we'll get more details in the launch later. Anyway think I'm going to wait a day or 2 before taking the plunge. First want to get all the details and options, learn from others experiences and mistakes.

Buy now install later. The license key is the value so I am sure it would be fine later

That's my plan, buy now and install later, anyway don't have time for a pc format and rebuild right now or in the next couple of days.

I wonder if the upgrade licence key would work with an MSDN retail iso. Then you could do a clean install from that and use your valid licence key to activate?

I keep getting this error when running the upgrade assistant

WINDOWS 8 Isnt available for download
Sorry, windows 8 isn't available for online purchase in the country/region your in

Got the same, saw from the Afrihost feedback thread, their new MTN network IP's is not SA listed yet. So if you're trying from an Afrihost account, it won't work.
