Well no 31 is no surprise. Whenever there is a government tender (this borders on being one) Gajima is there.

Was that a secret though? Was Neotel a secret as well? They could be seen installing fibre or something during the construction phase.
 
Just another reason for me to show Vodacom the appropriate finger and support Cell C instead.

What I find interesting is that a lot of the contracts have a "current" status, perhaps SANRAL meant 'ongoing', if not it calls into question SANRAL's readiness to actually start etrolling.

to show you the companies that support SANRAL, so indirectly they are supporting the Govt who doesn't mind ripping off the masses in GP instead of trying to clean up the corruption in the government.

Let me guess, you are either ignorant, or you work for one of the parasitic companies who will benefit by this raping of the tax payer - which is it?

and the other thing it is supposed to show us, is that that list would probably not exist, if funding was done through the fuel levy, which would have had practically zero admin costs, instead of the R1B that e-tolling has

I don't quite understand comments like this. If you refuse to buy from any company that may have benefited from the GFIP then you might as well stop spending money. Those were some of the major sub-contractors but many of those companies probably spent additional money with their suppliers in order to fulfil the contracts.

The economy is a very circular thing and I would not be surprised if many on this forum have a family member or friend who had work or made business profits for a day, a week, a month or more as a result of all the construction projects.

Please think about this when you make these kind of comments.

Agreed.

If folks do want to look for the 'dodgy' dealings then look at the smaller 'companies' on that list.

in my view, any dodgy dealings should not distract us from the point that this money is being wasted - 20 000 houses per year could have been built with the money used to recover the funds spent on the road

This is not the list I really want to see.

The List I want to see shows who is getting money handed to them behind the till from this e-tolling debacle! ;)

ambo, with all due respect, I don't understand what you did not understand about my previous post.

I stated that Vodacom's involvement with etrolling is just another reason to switch to Cell C, that means I have other reasons as well.

If you read my previous posts on the subject of SANRAL's etrolling, you will find that I am in favour of a Gauteng only fuel levy funding model to pay for improvements to Gauteng's "freeways" (ironically nothing free about using the freeways, so best call them motorways).

I am vehemently opposed to SANRAL's etrolling funding model because most of the money raised will not be used to pay for road improvements, etrolling money will end up fuelling the greed of a small bunch of leeches who are probably already stinking rich and will only get richer at the expense of millions of people who will be financially raped for the next 20 years and quite possibly longer than that.

Obviously many people have prospered from the GFIP construction work, and I have no problem with that, the construction work had to be done as the corrupt cANCer government has been stealing the fuel levy tax money that everyone has been paying for years when they purchase petrol/diesel, and obviously very little road improvements have been made over the last 18 years.

That fuel tax money was supposed to be used to pay for road improvements, instead the money was pocketed and the roads have been falling apart (potholes, sinkholes, etc) and traffic volumes also increased over the years to the point where additional lanes were essential.

In conclusion, as far as I am aware, Vodacom is not in the construction business and has not built nor improved any roads, please correct me if you have evidence to the contrary.

It is your right to have a different opinion, I respect that, likewise I expect you to respect my opinion even if you vehemently disagree with me.

OK, I don't read long posts, but I think I got the gist....

I believe CellC could have also gotten the Scamral contract and I'm quite sure they tendered... what would you have said if they (CellC) were successful?

The point is, at least MY point is, it's childish to expect a company to say no to contracts with govt. - the shareholders will shoot them



ONCE AGAIN, the only value that the list of contractors has in my opinion, is to demonstrate what is wasted as a result of the funding mechanism and only once the battle has been won, the corrupt nature of these contracts should be investigated

Most logical thinking people are thinking the same. They expect mother Theresas out of these companies. I see nothing wrong with them doing business as long as they obtained that business above board.
