Did you perhaps tested it from CT round about 7pm last night? The Afrihost / Axxess 's MTN network is a joke. I were @ Axxess, jumped ship to a Afrihost Business account. Not much better. I sincerely hope they get things fixed soon, ping times of 450ms is not funny. For the past 3 years I have been with Axxess on the IS network without problems. And yes, I had my even my ADSL line tested as well and it is fault free.

Afrihost uncapped, unshaped ADSL tested

Afrihost has recently moved their ADSL accounts to MTN’s network. We take an Afrihost business uncapped account for a spin to see how it performs.

Agreed, I finally gave up last night after waiting for Afrihost to fix the Cape Town issues. Now on OpenWeb and getting full speed on my 4mb line. Was getting anything from 20kb/s to 70kb/s with http and newgroup downloads, and ping times to Cape Town servers in excess of 300ms, never lower. Terrible, terrible service down here from Afrihost.

Report says that the business uncapped accounts are not on the MTN network. So which network are they on?!

sins they moved to the new network my line speed is sh*t spoke to them twice already and nothing is happening.
and it's not Telkom they recreated / reset all the thing they do and nothing wrong.

spoke to afrihost again last night. so the agent said to me change the account on the router to telkom guest we will then find out what the problem is.. bam full speed on the guest account changed it back to afrihost all sh*t again.. then he asked me dit you mail us all the results and tests..
are you for real....... normaly when i phone you i have a problem ....

a well maybe they will sort it out or i'll have to move...

Perhaps write an article testing their uncapped consumer accounts. You can have my account to test with.

My Speedtest shows that my nearest server is in London??????

Yup and when Afrihost breaks there's nothing you can do, but wait -and complain on mybb about how slow everything is...along with the mweb subscribers :p. When OpenWeb breaks, you send an email, you usually get a response within 30mins with new details (week or weekends, response time is the same), clock in and continue fullspeed on your merry way, as if nothing happened. :)

I use a fixed wireless product making use of IS

my international latency to the BBC
Pinging www.bbc.net.uk [212.58.246.95] with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 212.58.246.95: bytes=32 time=165ms TTL=50

Reply from 212.58.246.95: bytes=32 time=163ms TTL=50

our international speeds were slow last night as well. We only go 2Mbit instead of 3.8Mbit

Test the consumer uncapped accounts. I only use the internet at home in the evenings and it has been more than a month since I had speed above 0.8Mbps on 4Mb uncapped account. Pathetic really, worst ISP of year, by far!

I am having this exact same problem, i haven't been able to play online for about 3 weeks now cause my ping is horrible, where is afriman to give some input on this.

MyBroadband has received numerous complaints from Afrihost subscribers about high latency, routing problems and slow speeds after its move to MTN.

Apart from a few momentary hiccups we have not experienced any of these problems on the Afrihost business uncapped service, but it is clear that these problems are impacting some Afrihost clients.

You guys really have no clue do you?

Majority of consumers are gonna use business uncapped?

Its the normal home uncapped accounts that are lagging severely.

I've reported this post to the 'Grammar Police'

Watching my consumer uncapped fluctuating between 79 and 630KB/s. Fun

I like the following that was told, and you can clearly see in the International Afrihost ping test picture it shows 270ms which is a joke.. we normally got 170 - 200ms pinging oversea servers.

The MTN backbone is not as stable as Afrihost would like to think. it is subject to the typical problems that MTN 3G suffers from - lack of stability. While speeds may be faster and bandwidth cheaper, the usual MTN instability and lack of a decent level of support that takes subscribers seriously still exists - aq common problem throughout MTN.

Was forced to move due to FTP-traffic being shaped to a lovely 512KB after the MTN migration.

FTP-traffic is the majority of my traffic. I tested different FTP's, different times of day - always 512KB.

Torrents and Usenet were unaffected and got near line speed.

But if Jack cannot work - there will be no money to play. Jack moved.

I use their 10meg uncapped consumer line and since the move I don't have any problems, constantly get 8.40 - 8.50 down and 0.80 - 0.85 up. Maybe the main issue is just "slaapstad" :p
