Mobile broadband coverage battle: Vodacom vs Cell C vs MTN vs 8ta

"According to information received from the operators themselves, Vodacom is leading the mobile data race with 80% population coverage."

That is why I will be porting from MTN soon to Vodacom.

I will too soon be porting, but most definitely not to Vodacom.

Cell C claims they got 72% 3G Coverage, MTN claims they got 65% 3G coverage. Is that even possible?
It really depends on how coverage is measured - indoor or outdoor, signal strength etc. This is why we can only say claimed coverage...

I have noticed that Cell C has started working in a number of out-of-the-way places that I frequent, such as Grahamstown, Tzaneen, Lydenburg, which is great.

At my house in Joburg Cell C is completely congested during business hours, so not much good there.

CellC had a pretty big boom. Been checking it regularly with the hope of getting coverage. The Free State has had towers popping up everywhere.

In Cape Town it is noticeable how 8ta excludes the more affluent areas. ex. The whole of Durbanville and the west coastal area
Maybe they think people in these areas are already connected via other SP's.
If on the other hand they provide a better service at lower cost, a lot of people will jump ship and they can reel in more customers. These areas are full of laptops smartphones and tablets.
