Default Managing multiple accounts with a single router...

I'm tired of having to find my login details for the three ISP accounts I have every time I want to change to a different account. I see my D-Link DSL2750U has an option to add more accounts in the setup page, but the moment I added a new account it tried to connect while the other was connected by the looks of things, so I deleted it in case it was going to cause a problem.

How can I set it up so that I can just save all of the accounts in that setup page and activate/deactivate each one at will when I want to use one?

If you have some money to spare the best way of doing this is getting a Mikrotik RouterBoard...

    Sounds complicated...

Why is there an option in my router to add another connection though? Surely if they're all on at the same time there's no way to control the traffic properly? Would be great if I could just select which one to switch on at a time...

Save each account's config as backup file. When you want to switch connections/accounts, simply load the saved config file. Easy. Fast.

Badly worded front ends, it's not that you can 'add' many accounts and store them, it just means 'load a different account'! Arthur's suggestion of saving the configs is sound. Also, you could always just have Firefox remember the details for you.

    Or use Smoothwall/IPCop?

Smoothwall can have up to 5 PPPoE entries, you can select which one to use.

How about your leave the one account on the modem, as your default Internet connection, and then if you want to use another ISP account, you just dial it (as a PPPoE connection) from your PC? When you do this, your 2nd PPPoE connection will run in parallel over your ADSL connection and not via the PPPoE connection the ADSL modem, meaning that you won't use the cap of both accounts.

Your modem should support PPPoE Passthrough, but it may not be enabled by default, which would then prevent you from dialing a PPPoE connection from your PC.

If you want other devices to also use the second PPPoE connection, then I'd suggest that you rather go for a decent router setup - by either setting up Smoothwall/IPCop or buying a MikroTik Router (eg. RB750 for about R500).

I used to have a billion telkom router which would allow me to switch accounts from windows... I now have the same router as DJ and it won't let me do it anymore.. eventually just gave up.

I think this is what he's trying to do. I also do this and it works 100%

Just enable PPPoE Relaying on your modem then...

It should be under the existing PPPoE connection, where you have you enable the "Bridge PPPoE Frames Between WAN and Local Ports" option.

Save Passwords in Firefox/Internet Explorer/Chrome Autocomplete? Type the first letter of the username, choose and voila?

After looking over all of the options Arthur's suggestion seems the least complex, and therefore easier for me to manage. Thanks for the input, all. Dialling up using PPoee pooh-pooh just sounds like geeklish to me...

Okay so I figured out how to do this with my DLink 2750U. You simply add a new connection in the setup page, then under the status tab, you can select which connection to use from the drop-down menu. At least I think I figured this out in theory - my Telkom line is down for the time being so can't test it.

Logically it seems that this should work...
