Microsoft announces Surface Pro pricing for US consumers

900 greenbacks??? And it doesn't even come with a smart cover? What are they smoking?

This is x86 full windows and x86 applications + apps, full laptop computer

Compare the iPad to the Surface running Windows RT rather.

And how is that equivalent to the Surface Pro - one you can use as a laptop replacement with the freedom you want and the other some useless toy that you are restricted from everything. By going by your logic I could compare the cheapest tablet to an iPad and say the same it has a touch screen and it can run apps WOW.
 
If I was in the market for a laptop I would be tempted but the limited internal storage is a concern.

No you're right it's not equivalent. iPad3 has a higher resolution better quality screen, costs less, has plenty of keyboard cases already available, and a vastly superior app selection.

It's windows, plug in that usb stick, sd card, external hdd whatever you like

You're missing the point. Who cares about apps now? This thing runs full programs. Last time I checked the full program selection available to the Windows operating system is vastly superior to that of all app stores combined, both Android, Apple and Windows Phone.

Your arguement is like saying the small replica of the Sphinx in Los Vegas is better than the actual Sphinx in Egypt.

Better battery life too. These are the things consumers will look at when deciding on a tablet.
They're not going to say "but Surface RT is more of an iPad equivalent because of ARM/locked down app store/whatever"
Even Asus Transformer offers similar functionality at a lower price.

Also the comparison to iPad is wrong the better comparison is to a MacBook so the surface pro is well priced

So does my laptop, and my PC at home, and they run all those apps on a much bigger screen with a faster processor, more ram and more memory. All the Surface Pro adds to that mix is a smaller screen, a crappier processor, shorter battery life and the one feature I never really asked for from my workstation - touch.
