Apple TV South African price and launch date

What was Apple thinking. The remote is too minimalistic to provide any decent home-entertainment experience and unless you jailbreak the atv functionality is really limited. Would you use atv to rent movies - at 40 bucks per movie and 1.5-4GB download I seriously doubt it?
 
Awesome price. That is about what I expected to pay to ship one here. Minus import tax. :D think I know what I want for my birthday. Wait. I am married for one month today... Anyone want to sponsor me a anniversary present :p

Nice to see more Apple products being launched officially over here. For those who don't know, this is the ATV3 :) which supports 1080p. Full details on the device here on Apple's US site. Keep an eye on when the local site is updated :p.

Does this mean we are getting TV Show rental/download/season pass access soon for the SA Store :D?
 
Have two of them already - they're great for Netflix or Hulu Plus.

Needs a jailbreak for XBMC. The ATV3 was released a while back, surely a jailbreak must be imminent?
 
I've had one for a while, hooked up to TV in bedroom and use iPad to browse Plex client, and then Airplay to ATV3. Makes life easier for the wife.
