AMD goes beyond PCs, hires chip veterans

Good for them, its unfortunate but they don't have the capacity to fight intel, but its in the best interest of the company, and we might see some amazing products in the SoC space.

And even if they did well in the desktop market people would never buy AMD cpus, they would just hope intel lowered theirs instead.

Hiring top engineers? Wow! Appointing them of VPs? Sorry, I must have missed the "engineering" part.

Having engineers in management would allow for better leadership of an engineering company.
For a similar example, compare Microsoft under the leadership of Gates vs Microsoft under Ballmer.

99% of users doesn't even know the difference between AMD and Intel. If an AMD chip is in the notebook/desktop they want/like they will buy it.

Gates is university drop-out and studied law at the time. His degree from harvard is a honorary degree. I would not call bill gates an engineer. MS Basic was mostly done by Paul Allen & Monte Davidoff. MS-DOS they actually purchased from another company. I would call him more of a visionary.

I think you gravely underestimate branding. Intel has been a must-buy for uninformed consumers for years. Go shop at game or Makro, nearly every single solution there is Intel-powered and the way salesman carry on its like they're the only solution ever.

Salesman earn commission on what they sell. If it were you would you try sell a 4k AMD computer or a 6k Intel? Both do the same but you get to take home more at the end of the month.

I was an Intel Fan in the 90's up until 2002/3/4 some where. Changed to AMD, no problems. Will buy them any time, again. So I'm wondering who this people is.
Also, the new Gen consoles is going to utilize AMD excessively. Wonder what that means???
