Hiding the truth from South African consumers

I can say with absolute confidence that MTN is absolutely undiluted sht. Realized this after skype conversations with people in New Zealand (literally other side of world) were more clear than local MTN to MTN calls.

12 000km vs 1 000km...wtf...latency alone should have made the New Zealand call twice as bad.

Is there no internationally available standards to use?! Are we the ONLY country trying to do this? Surely not. How is it done elsewhere in the world? This is truly pathetic. Shows a complete lack of competence and leadership ... and honesty.

The consumer is screwed a 100x over and these goofs struggle to get a method to test ... /shakes my head in total disbelief.

someone should just wikileak it......

Why do you need a quality report? It's pretty apparent that across all SPs calls drop frequently, network throughput is mostly on Edge and at the lower end of 3G and every SP overcharges. A body with teeth is needed to protect the consumer and force the operators to provide quality service.

ICASA is really ****ing [-]useless[-/] [-]clueless[-/] hopeless. The operators are outright *******s but at least they know what they are doing. Seriously get a grip.

Will any of the mobile operators comment on this?
Your reputation comes from how you handle problems.

They have a reputation other than "bloodsuckers bleeding us dry"?

Just another day of ICASA drinking coffee and not working...

MTN is just horrible. Most of my calls drop when using MTN. (MTN to MTN )

Cellc was bad but they have improved a lot. I still get some dropped calls, but it is not enough to get me frustrated and it does not happen all the time.

In Ireland they automatically refund you if a call is dropped (for whatever reason) the last few seconds of the call (it's per second on everything so you don't lose out). It would be pretty easy to implement that here. Then we don't need reports - eating in operators' bottom line would do it. In any case, SP should be able to report on this directly.

Surely a Skype call would be better as it it pure VOIP and uses a completely different codec? If memory serves GSM codecs has bit-rates between 4-12Kb/s.

I have been with MTN, and they were horrid, then I moved to Vodacom, which was slightly better but their administration sucks donkey nads. I now also have a Cell C pay as you go 99c "phone", which I rate as the best simply because I do not need to be in contact with anyone from the company.

Call stability for me Cell C > MTN > Vodacom.

ICASA is suppose to protect the consumer but they are as good as a toothless guard dog with only one eye and two legs.

lol you just have to use a phone to realise these guys arent hitting their targets, in my area MTN is utter rubbish have to redial at least 20% of calls some multiple times.

I was hoping to switch providers when contracts up but looking at the report who the hell do i switch to? 8ta maybe?

There is only one question that needs to be asked: Was your call terminated by some phenomenon other than yourself?

Thats it. No research. No mess

Nothing like a watchdog without teeth, scared to bark and pees at its own shadow! ICASA proves such exist.

FTFY
