Who can spy on your Internet activity?

We cant have people talking smack about us and revealing our corruption. We must find and silence them.

Firstly, that Laurie dude really has to sort out those teeth. If I have to look at that photograph of those teeth one more time I think I'm going to freak out.

Secondly, ISP's, or anyone really, won't be able to intercept your internet traffic if you're using any sort of encryption. That includes any website using SSL, or any VPN using a secure protocol. And we should ALL be using encryption with whatever you do on the Internet. Articles like this just reinforce that there are lots of bad people, including the police and government, who can not be trusted with your data. Always use encryption with whatever you do on the internet. You really cannot be paranoid enough when it comes to securing your data.

Actually they will be able to see which websites you visit even with encryption. The only way to avoid that is via a secure tunnel (VPN) to a proxy that is not being monitored.

At most they can see which IP address and port you have connected, but they won't be able to peer inside the data packets to see what data you have accessed or downloaded. They won't be able to see which website you've visited if there are multiple websites running on the same server either cos they will only know the IP address of the server, but they won't be able to see the host header.

encryption does help use http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BitTorrent_protocol_encryption and PeerBlock.

But the unsuspecting can still be caught out see:
SQUID transparent SSL interception
blackhat SSL_TLS_Interception-WP
Intercepting HTTPS traffic:

All that is required is a trusted certs in your browser.
Some corporates push out certs via GPO to internal machines for just this purpose.
There are lots of certs installed by default - not just thawte and verisign - do you trust them all?
Have you checked your certs lately?

Surprised they don't track it.. very surprised. Then again the data involved in doing it is a LOT.
 
You can intercept SSL traffic pretty easily.... Bluecoats for example ;)

Seriously tho, if some government perv, wants to spaai on the porn sites I visit, he/she is more than welcome to.
