Unotelly and Netflix

Hi,

So I just setup unotelly and have registered with Netflix ect - registration went through without a problem using my FNB credit card. I just have two questions with regards to unotelly.

1. When setting up unotelly, they tell you to go to the global page and choose the two closet servers to you - could someone please tell me which are the best two to use?

2. I have changed the primary and secondary DNS on my PC connection, and also in my router settings so that any device on my network can access Netflix ect - are there any drawbacks to doing it this way?

Also is unotelly the recommend service to use? If not what is the best service to use (still in the 8 day trial so can change this service without loosing money). If there is anything else that might be helpful, that will be great too.

1. I use the servers located in Cape Town, that works fine for me. Have tried different servers but did not see any real benefit.

2. Yes, I believe your windows updates and possibly game updates will come down from the international servers instead of the locally cached servers.

I normally only set the DNS on the device that will be streaming Netflix, in my case it is the ps3. Unotelly has worked great for me, have tried other services like the VPN etc but find this to be the simplest and most effective.

OK cool thanks for the reply. I have my Windows updates disabled as I prefer to select which and when to install - had too many problems in the past with corrupted windows updates ect, and I also don't game on PC so the updates won't bother me.

I have currently selected London as the Primary and Cape Town for the Secondary - if I leave it like this will it be OK? I don't want there to be speed issues ect (if there are any with the DNS) or should I just use Cape Town and then Israel
(it is the one below Cape Town)?

I originally had only set my HP Server as that where Netflix will stream from, but I might want it on my iPad ect - but as mentioned, if this will cause problems, then I will rather manually setup the DNS on the specific devices that will use Netflix.
 
Use Cape Town as primary, that way the DNS will respond faster.

Netflix on the PC is rather poor quality, looks so much better on the ps3.

Yeah I am trying to see if I can get the Netflix App to work on Plex - have my HP connected directly to my TV. I would love to get the Netflix app installed on my LG Smart TV, but when I search for the Netflix app, it does not show in the app world because I am in South Africa. I followed the help to change my Smart TV settings to USA, but when I manually change the DNS and go to choose the country, I still only get African countries - no USA ect.

I had the Netflix app running on plex server, it was poor quality. It still uses the browser to connect.

The only way to get great quality from what I have seen is to use the ps3, not sure if even the xbox can get the same quality.

I don't have a PS3. I have my Plex Server, Smart TV and XBOX 360.

To be honest, don't know if it is really worth it then. I was rather disappointed with the picture quality and buffering. When I moved it to my ps3 I was amazed at the difference.

I just went back to download then watch, just easier and way less effort.

I would gladly pay for these services, but want a single device that can handle everything not have to switch between my micro server and ps3 all the time. I was using ps3 media server, but then cinavia became a pain.

thats why i don't have a micro server. getting dik of all the gadgets and configurations to get things going. i only got a roku with Unitelly and subsriptions to hulu plus and playon. thats all i need for my entertainement all in one. press i few buttons and everything plays.
 
I use elephantvpn... Found the bandwidth to be the fastest and the pricing excellent on
the pre-paid package.
 
So I only setup unoDNS last night and you are meant to get the free 8 day trial - I looked to see if everything was still running and at the top where it tells you the service is running correctly, I get a message saying: unoDNS Setup is OK but your account has expired. even tho it is only meant to expire 2013-03-18 so not too sure what is going on???
 
I've got two Apple TV's (bedroom and living room) which works perfectly with Netflix and Hulu plus. The picture quality is awesome, not full HD, but close enough. And I've installed Netflix on my iPad as well. Works a treat. No issues with picture quality of streaming of content.
 
I've just signed up for my free 8 day trial with UnoTelly.
Everything works 100% and together with Netflix you have an affordable way of watching TV.
 
I also signed up with my FNB card on netflix, I however had to enter a US post code as it did not accept my local post code. Will this matter after the trial has ended and I want to pay?
 
I used TunnelBear to install the Netflix App on my iPad and Android tablets, and am now using UnoTelly to watch movies, it is much faster than TunnelBear.

This setup works well.
