E-voting in South Africa discussed

Read this as:
We are going to run out of voters who are prepared to vote ANC.
So:
1. Let's introduce a new system that will generate tenders.
2. On the first round, it will have some errors. But we will sort it out next time round. For now, let's pretend the ANC won.
3. Generate more tenders to fix the errors in the first round.
4. Rinse, repeat.

I vote NO.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it... OH sugarhoneyicedtea...

Hmm,

The worry is a system like this going out on the current tender system may be an issue. If the Tender requirements are set out correctly with the right failsafes and auditing then it would be wonderful (i.e. make sure it is not one tenderpreneur getting the deal, but a proficient company(ies) with proper external verification of the systems and data).

There was an interesting Ted Talk around an electronic voting system with accountability built in, perhaps that is something to look in to? As much as I am not a fan of biometrics in many instances due to their complexity and the general misunderstanding by sales people on the issues that they can create using a fingerprint (already on file for your ID book) as part of the verification (think of it like a password where there is only one match happening, not using it like a username where there are many matches happening) and this could really reduce issues of fraud.

IP cameras at all the stations could also ensure no voter intimidation is happening as well.
