TopTV porn boycott planned

Christian and civil society groups are uniting behind a boycott of TopTV as the company seeks permission to broadcast three porn channels, the Family Policy Institute said on Monday.
 
“Research overwhelmingly indicates the widespread and easy availability of pornography is harmful to society.”

Umm, no it doesn't...
 
Did they bother to check if anyone planning on joining the boycott even has TopTV (or internet for that matter)?
 
If their general service wasn't sucky I'd sign up for TopTV in support.

Oh, and Errol Naidoo is a poopie-head.
 
I don't understand these people.

They are not going to watch it themselves but they want to protest against it? This does not compute.
 
Maybe Errol Naido did some "regretable" acting in his past and he's afraid someone he knows might see :p

All religious groups try to bend the world to suit their world-view, besides, why suffer the denial all alone when you can have others suffer it with you?

Not suprised at all. It is always them.

Don't they have better things to do rather than worrying about a couple of porn channels? It's not like the user will be forced to watch the porn channels.

Thing is, you say that in a stuffy room full of beareucrats (ok, there's a word I can't spell), those idiots believe it. In fact, recent studies across several countries and economies have revealed how impressed bureaucrats (ok, got it right) are easily impressed by statements of evidence rather than evidence itself.
 
Anthony D'Amato from the Northwestern University's Law School wrote this paper which shows that the availability of porn in the States caused an 85% drop in reported cases of rape and that broadband penetration or the lack there of had a direct link to the number of rape cases being reported. The higher the broadband penetration the less reported cases of rape.

Will then, porn should be instituted locally as a matter of national urgency!!!
 
As a true South African I am going to start my own boycott if they don't start the porn channels. :)
 
As a Christian, its their duty to boycott otherwise they fall victim to their own teaching...the one that says we must resist Satan's lustful thoughts and not do as the world does, blah blah blah. Meantime most Christian blokes are hoping nothing will come of the boycott coz they actually secretly watch porn on non-Sundays.
 
This is moronic. I would understand if it were the SABC showing the channels, but protesting a pay TV service, and using blatant lies to do so? Quite sad.
