Hi Guys,

I'm in the market to purchase a laptop, new or good condition second hand.

I'm looking for something with the following specs:
At least i7 Ivy bridge
At least 8gb ram
At least 1gb graphics card, preferably 2gb
Must have backlit keyboard
Not bigger then 15" screen size
Screen resolution must be at least 1920x1080

I can spend about R8000.

If you guys have any recommendations it would be appreciated...

Thanks
:)

I doubt you gonna get that for R8k.

The fullhd lenovo Y580 looks cool though.

Been looking there too ;)

You should make a Wanted thread for the laptop you want, I recommend you cut back a little on your expectations though you are looking for something very very specific.

Lower the required screen resolution and also allow i5's

Should I make a wanted thread even though I have made this thread?
Don't really want to drop the resolution but I guess I could look at Ivy Bridge i5's...

Yeah, put the word out there. In this section: http://www.carbonite.co.za/f10/

Also type "laptop" in the search box at the top right and see if you can find something you like.

Would it be unwise to get a laptop such as the Lenovo Ideapad Y580 if it's going to be/has been replaced by a newer model?

Unless it's at the same price then not really. Is it really such a bad thing to have something that's a bit older?

Not right now but in 2 or so years time it will be a more than a bit older and I don't want to replace something so soon...
