Cell C network problems and growth update

Problems were faced only in March really? I've been having network problems since September/October 2012 and to this day nothing has been done about this so please spare me the BS

Indeed. 3G has been useless in Sandton since December and over most of the rest of the places I frequent (Pretoria, Centurion) since January.

RPM, please go look at the 30+ page thread in the Cell C of this forum and see the long standing and still standing issues the guys are having.

AKC is talking ****.

I like that Cell C are acknowledging problems, however from an end user perspective it doesn't look like much is being done.

The tone in this article is very mellow - MBB is aware of the problems experienced by members and you answer us with this watered down article. Shame on you.

Typical PR talk, did any of you really expect AKC to acknowledge the problems experienced by CELL C subscribers

All nonsense talk. There problem originated at their NOC/data centre or architecture design, probably the equipment they had in place was outdated and had to purchase additional capacity.

Cell C has grown its network coverage to 97% of the South African population, with over 4,000 base stations around the country. This is according to Cell C CEO Alan Knott-Craig.

Whilst I would like to confirm this is my experience, this weekend was testament to another area in a so-called "populated" area where the data connectivity was abysmal. In the "dungeon" of my home (Randpark Ridge) I get better connectivity with Cell C than with Vodacom or MTN, but go to Morningside or Randburg and I struggle to get anything decent to download a web page or small app. Go figure.

I'm using cell c prepaid. When I need to make a call, I need to leave the building and walk 50m away from the building. With Vodacom I can make and receive calls at my desk.

Frustrating the network problems are,I am the eternal optimist and rightly believe that these are temporary problems and Cell C will right them in due course(network growth teething problems??).

I will take the lower data prices anytime than swim with the yellow and red sharks.Thank you.

cheap data deals mean bollocks when the networks are down. i recharged with R300 and they gave me 900MB of free data but I can hardly use it in Sunninghill, Sandton without intermittent dropped connections.

I agree, MYBB let AKC off the hook, that was a very lame response from CELL C

This forum is littered with complaints about CELL C no data throughput and all MYBB can get out of them are
"However, some challenges remain.
Limited spectrum and a lack of transmission at some sites make it difficult for Cell C to meet its objectives"

It is so annoying to see the 3G signal and no data coming through. This needs to be addressed. Once the data streams, the network is pretty good.

I agree, I was expecting some concrete update & not this. CellC the jokes on you.

Agreed. I'm still swapping to an 8ta Sim regularly because my Cell C line is unusable most of the time. I have great signal, but after a while my line just drops though I am I'll connected to the network.

what happened to the days when we used to get the CEO (Lars) and the CTO (Ron) on the forum keeping us up to date with CellC issues, especially as they rolled out their network, since AKC took over things definitely seem to have gone backward

I've recently loaded some data onto my old sim in order to have internet access in the Jo'burg CBD, waste of time, shows HSPA+ connection but speed is about the equivalent of EDGE, switched back to Vodacom so that I could get work done
