NZB's - who are the best indexers

Hi,

I know this is being brought up again - i've searched but the previous replies seem to have indexers that no longer exist or are now invite only.

Who are the best indexers that work with sickbeard / couch potato? I'm having a horrible time with DMCA takedown requests for certain items - its almost at a point where I am considering going back to torrents - it may be slower, but hell at least I get the content in the end.

So far of the local indexers:

Newzhost - hate the fact that I need to use their 'custom' sickbeard to sync with them - I don't trust it.
NZBSA - lots of downloads that are password protected - Why? Annoying.
Newzton - still need to test this local one - any input?

International indexers:

Nzbplanet - signed up for VIP to see what its like any input?

I'm basically at a point where I may abandon usenet as its taking too much time to monitor that I actually receive my content.

I must admit, I have zero problems, but I am one of the lucky few who got in on nzbs.org.

The other reason why I have less of a problem with DMCA takedowns, they take much longer to take down 720p content, and as such by the time they get to it, I have long gone finished downloading the needed episodes. I take very little time, if any to monitor my downloads. In the last 3 months, I only had 1 failed episode, and it was a show I don't really follow, but will some time later, so it didn't annoy me as much.

I use newshost and newztown , seems to be able to keep my download Q quite full , so happy for now
 
I am quite a newbie at this. i am using newztown. Works well for me.

As for the password protected downloads - second time in a row it has happened with game of thrones - very irritating especially when you come home from work excited to watch the latest episode.

How do you get around this?

:lol: yeah this week haha my sickbeard also grabbed it it was a fake.

Instead of going for SD, or even normal HD eps, go for the WEB-DLs. They take a bit longer to be released, never had a fake once waiting on WEB-DL, AND the quality is better, no ads at the bottom and its always 5.1 sound, so worth it.

SO yeah sure I wait a day longer to get GoT, so instead of watching it monday after work, I watch it tuesday after work, but I never get fakes :)
 
NZBSA - SickBeard and Couchpotato now downloads from the manual upload section instead of the auto Indexer so other than GoT which seems to always be password protected you shouldn't really have a problem with password protected items.
 
NZBS.org has never failed me. They are running below the radar atm though...you can't even access their page directly anymore.

Just found that you can't download an item that is older than a week from MWEB's newserver :cry:

Guess I have to set up a VCPay account in order to buy a 180gig block astraweb subscription for $25 :cry:

Astraweb may have more than a week old items, BUT they get DMCA'd to ash with their automated DMCA system.

Rather go with somenone like tweaknews or usenet4u who doesn't get as hard with DMCAs.
 
Sickbeard is faster than automated DCMAs. Also...not automated entirely...someone from the complaining side has to manually submit a complaint.
 
Sure someone has to submit the complaint, but once submitted astraweb's DMCA process is automated to delete the articles, and that is exactly what I was referring to. Sure sickbeard could be faster, but not everyone is on 10mbit lines, some are only on 1mbit lines, in which case a better news server where the DMCA process on the news server side is not automated, is better.

While I am on a 10mbit line, I understand that everyone else is not. I personally also won't support a company who make it easy for the DMCA zealots.

The DCMAs are fairly slow - even on a good day it still takes a couple of hours. More than enough time to grab it even on a 1mbps downloading a 720 version.

Source: I'm on a 2mbps line.

This assumes of course the indexer is on the ball and your PC runs 24/7. If there is a couple of hours delay in the NZBs hitting the indexer then its not going to work.

No the automated system was put in place to deal with the quantity of DCMAs - all of which they are legally bound to comply with. They'd have to employ an army of people to do it manually. The speed & ease is just a side-effect.
 
I find that the DMCA requests are affecting my downloads, eg I try and download a 720p WEB-DL file and then a normal SD episode but often both don't finish, doesn't matter which indexer I use. Perhaps it just bad timing on Sickbeards part.
 
I've got six servers now. Hardly get a broken download now. Going to add IS as the 7th.
