WiSee: Controlling your home using WiFi and gestures

University of Washington researchers have developed “Whole-Home Gesture Recognition Using Wireless” technology to detect human gestures

This reminds me of a demonstration I saw recently by a Japanese researcher from Osaka University of lifelike androids and humanoids he has developed that even respond to human touch. Seems like gesture recognition could effectively be used for controlling these humanoids, which already can perform various human tasks. Hope these androids never become unionized.

I recently bought a Samsung TV which can be controlled via gestures. When the dog jumps off the bed in front of the TV, it switches itself on. When she jumps a second time, it increases the volume.

Some work needed on this before it becomes reliable enough to use
