DStv – more subscribers, more money

That says everything about lack of choice and nothing about product quality or value.
 
What I don't understand is why they have to keep increasing subscription fees.
In most businesses, organic growth by adding new customers increases profits negating the need to increase fees.
The costs of running DSTV are relatively are static, with a breakeven as a certain number of subscribers.
Beyond that, it just becomes pure profit.

Seems to me DSTV is just greedy, and eventually subscribers will rebel.
 
"Subscribers will rebel". South African ones? Dont make me laugh. South Africans have no bloody brains to rebel. They just love being ripped off. Shame , now go back to your TVs.
 
I'll be canceling my DSTv subscription soon. FutuBox and Hulu Plus does everything I need. If DSTV gave me a choice of channels or even a sports pack option, I would have considered keeping my HDPVR. If everything works out, I'll cancel in just over a months time and either sell my DSTV hardware or smash it with a large hammer. I'm leaning towards the hammer option so far...
 
more customers??who are these people with all this money to waste on channels they never watch???

if DStv came out with a package where you could pick 10 channels you wanted for around R300 p/m i will be first in line...until then never ever!
 
Raking billions, are we talking total profit or total income?

Gary the only fools are the ones missing live sport because they think 600 rand is expensive. Dstv offers value for money, if you don't like dstv don't use it but saying people are fools because they pay for the one of the best sporting networks anywhere in the world is crazy silly dude. With their smaller packages they are doing well. I know gary might not grasp that some house holds don't have uncapped internet, so they have top tv, sabc or dstv as options. Why would they be fools to take a dstv package?

Incidentally Naspers makes more money from their internet business than pay TV. At least in these latest results.

I wonder what the bill is just for the sport they cover, they are rated as the best or one of the best networks in the world as they cover just about everything, people in the UK and other places need several companies or pay per view to see what we do.

World class/leaders costs money. People are not fools for wanting a service other than sabc, this is not some internet uncapped country where 80% of the population have uncapped access to series and movies. Seems logical for some who pay mweb 899 and download movies and series without limit but how many people can actually do that? You think a domestic and her husband can afford adsl, computer and then have the knowledge gary? No they might just have just enough for a small package via top tv or dstv, both smash sabc silly.

Its a complete rip off for the benefit of watching rerun after rerun.
It should be priced at R400 for the top package
 
Are the people that always complaint about re-runs under house arrest?

When you only have a couple of hours per day to watch TV (which is all that any healthy functioning member of society should), re-runs come in very handy. If anything, it's a pro not a con of Dstv.

Because not everybody watches live sport or is into sport for that matter.;)
