The difference is in other countries the police are actually doing something about combating it, not just paying it lip-service, or in some cases committing the crime themselves, like we have over here.
 
Easy pay-day for those locked out of the economy.
 
This is becoming a big problem in the UK as well and was brought up in Parliament by an MP who is sponsoring a private member's bill to prosecute dealers and exporters
 
i know in PE the cops are working hard to stop this. but as you can imagine it is not going to be easy to catch them in the act. but take out the scrap dealers and you can win this war. They are feuling this crime
 
I just wanted to know if anyone is experiencing lag issues during online gaming? I'm in Cape Town, my Data ISP is with OpenWeb and my line is with Cybersmart.

I tried gaming with capped account and uncapped, and still experiencing lag issues online.
Could this cable theft causing my problem?

Have been many calls of similar note....Guvamunt seems reluctant to bulge on this...

The ANC is particularly soft on crime .. probably 'cos most of them are in the go-to-jail-do-not-pass-begin category themselves. Rememeber .. those criminals, they also have to make a living!

I have no sympathy for Telkom, the rest of us have to survive despite where Zuma & co's taking this country. So must they. Man up & do your job.
 
Out beyond Mooikloof in Pta East is a blackwattle forest... you should see how many cables have been stripped there - the cable jackets lie there in the masses.
 
Simple solution, but government doesn't wanna go there. Classify Copper as a precious metal and actually follow up on licences/permits.

Problem.... you require a permit/license in order to sell precious metals. Now imagine Builders Warehouse, HifiCorp, PnP, small electronic stores, music stores, and every other store selling cabling, wiring and so forth, having to do this.... and then you can expect the prices of all of the above to sky-rocket too. Oh, and on top of this then we'd have another system to corrupt and steal from.

Compared to the cost we endure with lost of productivity, I recon it will be worth it. Also the extra income from permits can but directly used to police it. As for the cost of such permits, it doesn't need to cost you an arm and a leg, just enough to fund said policing.

As for corruption, like anything in SA yes there will be load of it but it will help curb the problem as it is today.
