Need info on Raspberry Pi

Hi guys

I'm thinking of buying a Raspberry Pi. But I have a couple of questions.

1) What's the best place to get it, and at what price
2)Is it worth it ?
3) How long does it last?

I like experimenting with things, and I want to do a little coding on there as well.
 
To answer your questions in short:

2) Yes
3) Forever I hope
 
1) Also try Electrocomp. Maybe the PiFactory too?
2) For your stated uses, unquestionably yes.
3) Depends on your (ab)use.

Thanks guys. And what class SD card is ideal for it?
 
No, Im a student, so cash is a bit hard to come by :P. I'm strongly considering it though.

If you are interested I can sell you a rasberry pi, I bought quite a few for a project which didn't materialise and so have a number lying around. Brand new in original box - as well as a few accessories (case etc). You would have to pay for shipping if not in CT and may have to figure out how best to do the sale (trust etc). Let me know if you are interested. R170 which is 50% of the VAT inclusive amount I paid.

Hey man. Your offer sounds interesting, but I will have to refuse. My parents just don't approve of me buying second hand things over the internet. Thanks for the offer though.

How many of these do you have available? What model PI is it? Also quite interested and in Cape Town.
 
Hey guys, I'm trying to order a pi through RS.

What will deliver faster, if I order them via business use or personal use? It's for a university project :P

Okay for those that are interested I have quite a few pi's type B that are still boxed (as well as cases) that I bought from RS Online for a project that I no longer need. I am prepared to sell the Pi's at R200 plus delivery fee to get rid of them asap. Current price on RS Online is R399 plus VAT plus delivery i.e. R540.

If interested you can PM me and we can make a plan. I am based in CT for estimating your delivery cost.

Can you post a pic of them and maybe some proof that the pic is yours like a piece of paper with your username, date and maybe mybb written on the paper? To many scammers going around South African forums....

okay, will do asap, just going to have dinner with family. I am happy to do anything reasonable to 'prove' this
 
im not sure about the RAM will have to check, the order is about 6 months old so if the 512mb ram is newer than that then no
