Anyone get the latest email around mobile data? A short while back it was reduced, for example, from 2 + 3 to 2 + 2 - now it looks like after August the + 2 will also fall away for new subscribers? Is that correct?

Ja - you have until the end of July. Try and get someone locally with the device to test this weekend and then you can make up your mind first thing next week.

Anyone who subscribes before 31st July will be guaranteed extra data until the end of December 2014.

Check next Friday as to what's on offer to new subscribers... If the 2 + 2 drops to 2GB and the price is still R145 then they will not see many extra customers if any! 2GB is available from other networks at R99pm already!

Yeh, thats why I was wondering. I think 3GB from Telkom Mobile is that price (R149), but coverage is poor.

I might just order a simcard in the meantime :p I was more worried about my parents, they don't have a permanent residence at the moment, just moved, and then moving to Cape Town - and I wanted my mom to order one for her tablet.

Guess I could just order it, RICA it, and send to her.

Have to admit, Mtn's mobile coverage is quite good, Probably the best for mobile data, For your ADSL Data - Not so much..

I wonder if these constant downgrades of the data bundles aren't MTN's involvement?

Greetings Afrihost.

I have a Huawei E3131 Speed Stick and I want to order one of your sims with some data. I just want to verify that the above mentioned Speed Stick does indeed work with the standard sim and not the micro or Nano.

Also, I noticed that if I order today, I will need to pay prorata for the rest of the month even though I will most probably only get the sim delivered after the end of the month?

Must I wait for the last day before placing the order?

Glad you're happy with our Mobile. Did you have issues with DSL with us? Do you still have DSL with us?

Would love to chat to you about the problems you had.

Sorry to hear that. What exactly happened here? Can you PM me? :(

Everything seems normal again, the that has happened lately is I'm connected and as soon as I use a bit of data the internet stops until I disconnect and re connect, then the same. I used to leave the mifi device connected for longer than a week with no problems. Like I said it seems normal now.

I think mobile is different to DSL. We usually see a lot of session closes and reconnects throughout the day. I guess this could be due to changing coverage zones or also just the nature of WiFi that it needs to constantly establish a valid connection.

I also encountered the "capped with data left" problem over the weekend, but I have to commend the support team.
Logged a ticket via clientzone and the problem got resolved in 30 minutes.

I'm assuming that have your modem already... The E3131 with HiLink interface will recognise the Afrihost SIM initially as MTN, so you'll just have to edit the APN to afrihost just the once. Both versions of the E3131 (the one with Mobile Partner and the one with HiLink) take a standard SIM Card.

If paying via debit or credit card, you should get your SIM within two days. However, if using Direct Debit then it takes longer and I'd be tempted to order on the 1st of the month so you'll get the chance to use the data!!

Good advice. You will definitely need to make sure your APN setting is correct to use our data :)

Visiting parents and no mtn signal here. Have to deal with mifi and vc sim in. Complaints logged via coverage team but doubt anything will come of it. Hope one day will have decent signal in the sticks.....
