It is not a SLR camera, the lens is fixed. Good camera still, Canon has the SX-50 to compete with this model for about the same price. The Canon is 12MP, but the 50x zoom, FullHD video and flippable screen is there. If the Sony has the same feature as my old Lumix, then dropping the resolution from 20MP to 12MP could give you more than 50x zoom(e.g my old Lumix is a 7MP with 12x zoom, but if I drop it down to 5MP I get 18.8x zoom) Fuji makes a similar superzoom for about R1000 less, but Fuji's picture quality and internal software are not the same level as Canon (or Sony).
