Samsung unveils Galaxy Gear smartwatch

Samsung Electronics Co Ltd unveiled a smartwatch on Wednesday that works as an accessory to its market-leading Galaxy smartphones, with a small screen offering basic functions like photos, hands-free calls and instant messaging.
 
As posted in the Qualcomm Toq smartwatch announced thread...

A lot of people make this out to be "world firsts" although not saying it outright. Smartwatches has been out for some time now. Here is a large variety - perhaps not the computing power or operating system one would like, but nonetheless it is definately not "new".

Is the emphasis on smartwatches only because Samsung made a big fuss about it or because they are one of the top smartphone manufacturers or perhaps only because they decided to have such a big launch?

Now everyone can look like a secret agent. Talking into your hand and stuff. When searching for pics of this things you come across one where a guy has strapped what look like an S3/4 to his wrist :D
 
I dont like it at all. The motoactv from motorola is still a better package and its 2 years old.
Sadly I think Apple is going to be the only one to get the design right.
