MTN SurferLite announced: low cost Internet for feature phones

so wait no data cost, but each time you send a request you get charged 5c?

so basically 5c per page, that is small and optimized for feature phones? so basically 5c per meg(+-)

please tell me I completely missed the point and misunderstood what they meant with request?

I want this to be a cool alternative but its sounding like another mtn ripoff.
is refreshing your twitter stream a request? because that is like 100kb max....

"...otherwise only available on an internet enabled phone"

How many phones have Java but no internet ? Even the 11 years old Nokia 6310 has GPRS and Java.

OK so this is sort-of like Vodafone Live?
You can access a bunch of sites they deem accessible, probably proxied, but you cannot access any other site, like perhaps your own website, or this forum? Can someone confirm that?

Ah, so useless if you, for example, wanted to use this to send small bits of data to a server.
Much appreciated thanks. I don't expect very much from MTN... they suck!
