Q: How to enjoy all the music on earth legally for R60pm?

A: By using the fantastic service mentioned below!

I cannot recommend this service enough:

SIMFY

- Gigantic catalogue. There's very little it doesn't have.
- Good quality - 192kbps
- You'll never need to bother with keeping your music up to date again
- Completely legal with no need for Unotelly
- Works on all major platforms, incl. PC, Android and iOS
- The apps look good, work well and are easy to use
- You'll discover a crazy amount of new music with the 'related artists' tab
- You can create playlists and add music from your hard drive
- Playlists are always in sync across all your devices
- The price is R57pm if you buy a 3 month voucher, and can go down to R51pm if you buy 12 months
- Simfy can link up with your Facebook to recommend music to friends
- There is a 'radio' feature that functions like iTunes Genius and provides infinite music based on what you start with
- Any album or playlist can be set to be available offline, both on PC and the mobile apps

You can try a free 2 week trial just by going to the Simfy website and signing up, without the need for payment details.

If you'd like a whole month for free, you can use the link below that my account generated. Payment details will be required, but you get around this by opting for the cellphone billing (only cellphone number required) and then immediately cancel once you're up and running. They don't bill until your free period is over, so you'll be safe. I can confirm that this works as I've helped friends do it.

Just to be very clear - with Simfy you're paying a fixed monthly amount for full access to almost all the music on earth. If you cease being a subscriber then you can't play their music.

Or you could try deezer. Higher bit rates too.

Lately I've just been streaming youtube. Though that does tend to be genre specific - i.e. In my favorite (epic trance) there tend to be lots of 1h+ mixes. Things are probably a bit more difficult for other genres.

I wasn't aware that Deezer even existed. Thanks! I'll check them out.

320kbps is awesome, as is worldwide access. The layout is very similar to Simfy and the price is almost identical. I'll give them a try when my Simfy sub runs out.

Simfy doesn't integrate with XBMC as far as I can tell. Pity...

Is there a normal PC app for Deezer? I hate using Modern UI apps and I'd prefer not using a website. A huge benefit to Simfy too is that you can essentially keep it free if you get enough friends to try it out.

I subscribe to Deezer and have the app installed on my LG tv (probably available on others too). Useful if you don't have an iphone dock.

Just discovered Deezer, which IMO is better than Rdio.

The only thing putting me off Deezer is the Modern UI app for Windows 8 (all I see for PC is that and using the website). As I mentioned above though, being able to use Simfy for free for many months is a huge plus. Just by getting my brothers, my parents and a few friends to sign up for a free trial (which they've enjoyed), I've had over six months added to my three month Premium Plus membership.

Not sure if you've tried Nokia music yet. It is available for the Windows Phone and Windows 8.1 devices. R29 pm will give you access to millions of different mixes. You can create you own mix, based on artists or genre and even download them for offline listening.

How's the offline support/apps on mobile devices for these services? I used Simfy briefly but because I mainly listen to music on the go it didn't work out too well for me with the useless app...

The Simfy mobile app works fine. I use it every day. Just select any album or playlist and choose for it to be available offline.

If I remember correctly every time one edited the playlist it re-synced every song on the playlist on not just the ones added. Does it still do that?

I haven't had any issues adding or removing tracks on offline playlists, so I assume it has been fixed.

Well Rdio en Deezer download the songs you want to your device, you can even then put the entire app in offline mode and play the songs that you synced for offline usage. On the PC it's a different story, Deezer can cache songs offline, Rdio can't.

I played around with Simfy, but didn't really explore the offline abilities, i assume it works the same, but overall i prefer Rdio the most. I can sit on my PC and pick the songs + build playlists i want to sync to my phone for offline usage and voila.
