Not even SMS roaming as Vodacom does it ?
I would port to Cell C if this was available.
Is SMS roaming available on postpaid - as it is on Vodacom, where voice and data is disabled ?

So I should port to Vodacom and then back to Cell C after roaming?
What....so basically seeing as I am a prepaid Cell C customer, i cannot use my number outside the country....Yoh that sucks....and they have a big list on their website, on countries where you can roam at.
Why is it not allowed on prepaid? Vodacom and MTN allow prepaid customers roaming....

I would like to know WHY prepaid roaming is not supported, given that the other companies do that. In fact, even a 3rd world country like Mozambique supports prepaid roaming, I can buy a Vodafone SIM in Mozambique and it works perfectly fine from within SA.

They cannot monitor your usage on the other network. Prepaid requires real time monitoring to work and so roaming is not possible.
So why can other networks do it?

Vodacom has been offering roaming on prepaid for years.

Does not always work, though.
I recently had a trip to Tanzania & Kenya, and activated SMS roaming at ORT. Even received a confirmation that it was activated.
But did not work in either Tanzania nor Kenya. Did not receive a single SMS, and also could not send any.
Complete fail from Vodacom.
Lol Vodacom has offices in Tanzania, they even have a network there, did you not connect to it?

Connected to it, but SMS roaming would not work.
Ended up buying a local sim, that worked fine, and the data was much cheaper than in SA
Bought a 7 day uncapped bundle (2GB unthrottled, over that throttled) for about R80. Much cheaper than SA.

How fast was there network down there ? Are they reliable - going there on business in 3 months time.

As I discovered a few weeks ago, a year later and they STILL DON'T.
Ported away as soon as I found out... sorry CellC, major fail and you lost a customer permanently.
