Breakthrough in Sanral white powder terrorism case

“We are not sure if he was operating the cellphone alone.”

How many people does it take to operate a cellphone?

Just asking...

But according to the article he is a mastermind
he sure was a mastermind... using the cellphone to produce the anthrax
"During his arrest a cellphone, suspected of having been an instrument used to commit the offence, was seized.”

is it just me or does this sound like a case of shooting the messanger again?

so you walk into your office and see a white powder, and call the police.

a few days later you see white powder again, and call the police again.

then you see a weird suitcase placed under your desk by someone else.

every time you call the police you use your own cell phone.

then you get arrested. totally fair. plus based on the way whistle blowers have been treated by SANRAL, I can actually see this being the case rather than this dude being the master mind....

"There are elements in society hellbent on undermining the peace and security of their fellow citizens. These backward and uncivilised individuals have elected to ignore all platforms made available to them by our Constitution to raise whatever concerns they may have," says Minister Peters.

I'm sure we'll get a public apology today.

I think they where referring to the bomb threat, he most likely called in the bomb threat from his cell phone, very bright indeed.

They are most likely now using that to try tie him up with the white powder kark.

How is this terrorism? A stupid prank, sure, but terrorism? Nobody died, nobody was harmed, everybody enjoyed watching Sanral squirm. This guy should be given a medal.

He phoned in with the threat of blowing up the building, I am sure in the process it probably scared a few people. That is pretty much terrorism as I understand it.

If this was a hospital or school where your kids attending or wife was would you feel the same way?

Hoaxes get treated seriously, same cost to companies to clear the building, loss of production, etc. Until the bomb squad clears it, it's an act of terror. It doesn't become an act of terror only after the bomb goes off.

Terrorism is when you actually blow something up as far as I'm concerned. Threatening to blow something up is just a stupid prank. There is a big difference. Calling a stupid prank terrorism is just politically correct nonsense.

It's the effect that was caused... the stopping of the work and the evacuation of the buildings, the financial loss and disruption. Also expenses related to clean-up and forensics, and the instilling of fear in the employees. Those all attract pretty serious charges.

In this particular case these are all welcome effects.

Nope, you are creating terror by threatening to blow the building up hence terrorism. There was no way to know if it was a prank or not.

So if I walk into a building with a bomb, and the bomb fails to go off then I am not a terrorist?
