Replacing Macbook optical drive with HDD

There are several threads already that you might like to review.

Bugger, so you have to buy the hdd caddy from overseas.

I have bought from OWC in the past. decent service and pretty prompt delivery. was quoted R4k to upgrade my ram to 16GB by apple SA. I think it came in under R1k from OWC.

This should FIT my model?

Anyone know if it will make a difference if I choose a more expensive delivery option, will it still come through normal post office channel I suppose.

No idea - despite bookmarking those older threads, I never went back and tried it. But I think they're pretty much universal. Maybe Rocket Boy's proposal could be cheapest though...

I read in the other forum you can "create" a fusion drive once I add this other HDD in the caddy?

Yes - it's pretty straight-forward. Clone your original drive, SSD in the caddy and HDD in the bay, run a few terminal commands, create a single logical drive, copy your cloned original back, and bob's your uncle.

Awesome, so wife collected the caddy from Rocket-boy, hopefully it works come Tuesday morning and no more space issues.
I have a 1Tb and 750gb 2.5 hdd to fill the void and all for measly R100.
