Nokia X, X+, and XL entry-level Android smartphones revealed

The Nokia X was rumoured to have the following hardware specifications:

  • Processor: 1GHz Dual-core Snapdragon;
  • Display: 4″ WVGA
  • RAM: 512MB
  • Internal storage: 4GB (+microSD),
  • Rear camera: 5MP
  • Battery capacity: 1500mAh


Elop confirmed the 4-inch display for the Nokia X and X+, noting that the X+ would feature larger internal storage and microSD support, which the Nokia X would not.

So the Nokia X will not have microSD support but the specs of the Nokia X include: Internal storage: 4GB (+microSD).

Depends on the price, and how fast you can load a custom android rom on it.

Some 4.4 Cyanogenmod would be awesome I think.

Jailbreaking or rooting a phone is not something I consider when evaluating a phone. Much like I don't consider modifying a car when I want to purchase one

For the price being asked, they seem like decent phones.

I also see them hanging around for a little while, until MS get WP running on decent low end hardware, then these phones will disappear.
 
Nokia should have done this six years ago. Bit late now.

Why is there still a "Nokia" name? Should be Microsoft now.
 
Give me a Nokia shaped like the Lumia 920 (I like the rounded sides) with specs at least equal to the LG G2 and running Android and I'll be back to Nokia in a flash. I still love their build quality and battery life, but I won't use Windows on a phone.

Microsoft owns it, but they don't really get involved much. I spoke to a friend of mine who works in marketing at Microsoft and he can't tell me a thing about Nokia phones. He said I'll have to get in touch with Nokia.

Then you will never be using a Nokia ever again, because that is not going to happen ever.
 
After the whole Deal with Microsoft OS they releasing Android devices? not complaining they should have done this earlier.

Im just a little confused is this full fledged Android (Kit kat or jellybean with some nokia tweaks) or some other kernel based on android

The deal with Microsoft hasn't been concluded yet... its still pending... Nokia are still a completely separate company for now and can do as they please.
 
This phone will probably be end of life short after release, almost like the Nokia N9 which was end of life before it was even released.

Nope, it wasn't exclusive from what I know. I think it was exclusive on their High end range...

These phones replace their Asha range, so the feature phone range which were never going to run Windows Phone.

ahh that explains it - They still do have a good chunck of the low end market IIRC this may help solidify that.
Would be funny if it is Kit Kat and it runs better on the low end devices then Winmo on the Hi End Devices
