Telkom calls for video on demand tender applications

I'll bid - and supply analogue dialup modems with 2400bps line speed :D

But seriously - why do overseas companies have to come in and do the job? Can't we do the job ourselves?

Wouldn't be too surprised if Naspers secured this tender.

Wonder if they'll throttle video abusers  :D

Well, that wouldn't surprise me either :D

EDIT: They would most likely throttle the folks that only watch new content but the ones that stream the old content (aka repeats in Naspersland) will never have a problem.

A few years too late.... should have done this with the cash received from the sale of their Vodacom shares instead of wasting most of it by venturing into Africa.

I would love to see triple-play brought in as soon as possible, but I've seen too many announcements before, to get excited.

My forecast: project will cost a lot, deliver late, provide unexciting content and either be overpriced, or heavily subsidised so that the industry cries foul. Take-up will be minimal.

Then another player will come along (Netflix, directly, or Samsung for example) together with MWeb or IS or Afrihost, and really get the market moving.
