Crisis? What crisis?

Most South Africans are inconvenienced by power interruptions at some time, and may believe that there is a crisis in the supply of electricity, but are unsure what caused it, where it is, or what can be done about it.
 
Engineers needed, not politicians

Eskom has replaced technically trained management with people having political and financial training. This is a recipe for failure. Failure will continue until the technically skilled return to the top.

We saw a political solution to the financial problems that Eskom faced in 2008: they stopped all vital maintenance and precipitated a crisis, so that NERSA would grant them an increase. Engineers don't play politics, but the people in charge are no longer engineers. The monkeys are running the nut house.

When our electricity went off on Friday 11th April it took Joburg Power 81/2 days to reconnect us in Bryanston, Johannesburg - the "world class city" on the African continent. 81/2 DAYS!! We have also not had any email accounts for water or rates during the past three months so I have paid the same amount each month since February. Absolutely no response from Joburg at all - are they getting the money or is it disappearing into the void? What a F=CK UP!
