Zest T1 R1999 with 1gb data each month for 12 months!

This will be the MiFi frenzy of last year all over again. Most likely all will be sold out in 1 hour.

I've queried David at Zest Mobile about other sub R2K purchase options without the Afrihost free data, waiting for a response.

R1999 for a Zest a Gobii a Hisense or any cheap chinese android phone? hmmm donno

Not much details on the specs from afrihost/zest site. I bet there will be plenty dissapointed with this after the purchase

edit : ./facewall .. didnt scroll down. Although no details on the cpu, bet its rockchip/mediatek

They say qHD display so my guess is 960 x 540 pixels
They say quad core A7 CPU so my guess is Mediatek MT6582

Weak battery 1600mAH
Will they release Android updates? Anyone know

From their site:
Your Zest T1 comes pre–loaded with the latest Android KitKat 4.4.2 software and thanks to Over–the–Air Updates, you will continue to get new features for months to come.

Battery lacks...

Very much so. My S2 has a better battery.

Not something I would spend money on, but there is a market for this especially with the bundled data. Very nice that it ships with KitKat, going to make the experience a whole lot better.

Your guess on the display is correct if you look at the ppi. Despite the battery its still a good phone for the price.

I had a chance to check the phone out, the screen looks great :)
Using the phone for a bit the battery seems to last well.

Nothing wrong with 960 x 540 or the CPU. I think what would differentiate it from all the other budget Androids with similar specs will be if Zest supports it with Android updates. Most budget Androids get no support

With 4.4.2 out of the box, I'm sure that 4.4.3 will be made available soon :)

Yes that is very nice but what I was referring to is will Zest support the phone if 4.5 comes along 6months down the line or 4.6 11months down the line. That's the kind of short/medium term support people deserve but are not getting from budget Androids
