“Secret” CliffCentral WeChat listener figures

"While these are not the total listenership figures for the show, it does provide a glimpse into CliffCentral’s streaming numbers."

So, how close are these numbers? If they are totally useless in terms or deducing the actual numbers, the article should say so.

They are pulled from the Icecast servers, so should be accurate.

You would need to pull stats on a regular hourly basis over a period of a few days to get accurate stats for viewership (listeners) though. Given the recent dropping of Cliff off Comedy Central due to low viewership, I think its likely that they're conducive to being accurate.

It seems lemming are more interesting. Cliff no longer has a captive audience if you want to listen to him you need to do something besides turn on the radio.

So it seems like he's doing a whole lot better than ballz radio then... But nothing compared to fm radio.

People are lazy. For me, its too much effort to start streaming, hook up my phone to my car, and then if the connection drops, initiate it again. If I turn my car on, my radio starts automatically. Until there is internet radio in cars, the likelihood of having a huge audience is low.

Would be nice if we can get a comparison between Ballz vs. CliffCentral vs. normal radio. To see how online radio stations are doing. Yes I know normal radio stations are online as well, but take that out of the equation so to compare them on their primary medium of broadcasting.

My personal preference is Ballz, but that is because of the presenters, but that doesn't mean I prefer this medium as I also enjoy Barney Simon's Sunday mid morning Closet Classic and in the evening's our very own Antowan's After Hours in the weekdays. So my vote then goes for the presenter that will pull me irrespective of the medium being used.

So will it the presenter or the ease of the medium being used that is pulling the new generation listener? Would be nice to see how the trend is developing.

I think SA is just not ready for Internet streaming. He should have rather started his own normal radio station.

From now on if you want to listen to Gareth Cliff....you'll need to visit him
