oh god. Secrecy on this front can only mean that they're preparing to spring some evil scheme on consumers that have no alternative but pay the monopoly provider.

Oh and dear Telkom...I signed a contract for a fixed amount...as for your price changes...

Price increase - not again!

I suspect this would be a price increase for the voice and adsl line and those prices previously announced by TI would just be integrated into the new adjusted price increase.

Overall though they would definitely increase something on the line rentals. :(
 
Didn't they increase the prices 2 months back? Or was that just for the Telkom Simple "bundles"?
 
Might be time to seriously consider sharing my line with the neighbour and score me a 50% discount :D

You are new in this country, aren't you? ;)

Telkom's annual price increase in August has been a regular occurrence every year since the beginning of time just as DStv's April increase.

They might even try to pull the wool over our eyes by decreasing the price of data, but then make up for it on the line rental side, so it is still an increase.

My increase only happened 2 months ago for some reason. Was quite a shock to get the bill and then be told "These are our new prices".
 
Well, I really can't see a reason why I should keep Telkom Simple Package anymore, you get throttled to ridiculous speeds if you do a 100 gigs in a month. I wonder if this price change will affect ADSL rental from other ISP because I'm looking to go the Afrihost route.
 
Please Telkom at least do not increase that silly voice line rental that we already do not need

IF there is a price increase on ADSL rental then it will be applicable to everybody. The ISPs will adjust that portion of their charge accordingly.

There would be no sense really in increasing the DSL circuit prices for Telkom although I doubt they'll decrease it either. Speed increases seem to be the way things are going although I doubt Telkom is quite ready to see 4Mbps as the entry, 10 as the medium and 20 as the fastest on ADSL.
Also can you imagine the baby that a certain ISP will have if Telkom does increase line speeds in short span ...

Analogue voice line rental is still probably in the firing range for an increase in order to ensure full cost recovery

So my prediction:
0-5% increase in DSL circuit, a 7-10% increase in voice line rental and no announcement on voice tariffs until the CTR process is finalized
5-7% on VAS productss
