" we need to increase our penetration of the oob shark "

I have found that many older people do not want/need a smartphone, but a proper feature phone, with nice keys and touchscreen.

With MS killing Nokia feature phones, other manufacturers does not seem to take up this slack, and it is becoming a struggle to replace phones for the older folks.

But I understand that there is less money to be made out of older people, even though they may have a bigger income, but no desire to spacefacetweet the whole day.

Agreed. My contract is up for renewal soon. My S3 is a great phone - does everything I want. But it is failing and the 24 hour battery life is getting irritating.
I have two choices - Spend R2000 to have Samsung fix it and use it for another 2 years (Far cheaper than spending R500 a month on a feature phone), or wait for the Nokia 130 with its 36 day standby time. It has no camera, basic music player, but even has watsapp (and even Rdio - according to some rumours). I might as well pick that as my phone, once off for R500.
And then get a smallish tablet with my contract for day-to-day use.

I'm using their $50 smartphone. Works great on Cell C's network. :p

But seriously, what more can you cut to make a $25 smartphone. The Smart Kicka is pretty much barebones as it is.
