Do Drive In's still exist?

As the title suggests, do we still have any Drive in's in Joburg?

I remember the last 1 we had was Velskoen drive in, and last i checked, they also closed down now.

Anybody know where the nearest and best drive in is (If at all)

I heard something about Menlyn Mall, but im not sure where that is, and whether its good also?
 
Menlyn also closed recently it was the last one I was aware of.
 
That sucks, and i was actually thinking that we could maybe try Menlyn tonight.
 
There's a roadhouse in PE called Something Good that is showing movies drive-in style. TBH the screen was a tad on the small side but the kids seemed to enjoy the experience. Maybe it's time to resurrect the proper drive-ins?
 
I quite enjoyed it order a pizza and watch the movies. Now they are all gone.

The last of the proper old drive-ins closed last year - missing them already?

I don't recall there being an open drive in since I arrived here in PE.
 
There was one next to Strydom park that closed a couple of years ago as well. Was next to the Toshiba at the Malibongwe offramp
 
They closed years ago, was a whole thread about drive-ins here somewhere a while back.

Correct...

We had:
1. Walmer Drive-in (opposite the Walmer Country Club)
2. Greenbushes Drive-in (just before the hotel)
3. Cape Road (where makro is today)
4. Despatch (right up on the hill against the bypass road just before the last curve to Uitenhage)

And you would have been lucky to get in to Walmer or Cape Road on Friday or Saturday night. (BTV)

I remember watching the Flash Gordon serial at Greenbushes.
