Nashua Mobile subscriber migration issues reported

I am one of the people who were moved but luckily without a break in service. Ported from Autopage to Nashua in May last year. Guess what I am doing in May next year?

Their Bulk SMS migration from nashua to Cellfind was a big messup as well.
Nothing worked.
They need some serious help with their systems.

My VC account is being moved on the 10th. Here's hoping there's no problems ...

I'm curious to know - was the problem related to people who owed money, or random customers. - I'm not implying anything about the individuals (I've had my share of mobile billing issues which were not my fault at all), just wondering what the common denominator was.

BTW it's happened to me with Nashua and it's most annoying - first when I ported from MTN SP, the number moved but the service died. Then MTN randomly dropped my biz and then my data and the frustrating part was it took a while to realise what the problem was.

I only have the full details of one case, so unfortunately I can't see a common denominator yet. The one I do know of, the subscriber pays by debit order and the order definitely went through the past two months (end of September and end of October). So it definitely doesn't look like there was any money owing when the migration happened.

Hopefully Autopage will get back to me later today with more details on what's going on and what people with problems can do to solve them.

Just as a matter of interest, why would anyone use Nashua Mobile or Autopage in the first place? Why didn't you guys go direct with the service provider? I've never understood why you would use a middleman when you could have just gone directly to the service provider in the first place.

That's easy: I had 6 accounts (was even afforded special status) but in spite of that, dealing with MTN SP was a nightmare experience for me (to say the least) whereas dealing with Nashua Mobile was an absolute pleasure, so it was a no-brainer to port contracts across when I could.

If you look at MTN SP's systems from a 'systems thinking' approach it is easy to see what went wrong and what could be fixed and I would love a chance to help them with that. Certain interventions could save them and the customer valuable time and money.

I got my number almost 20 years ago. Every couple of years the SP would get bought by another. Eventually it was Nashua. Never had a problem with them so there was no need to move.

I also make it a point of avoiding the middleman especially as there is absolutely no difference in price. I ditched Nashua Mobile many years ago. They kept on billing me after I properly cancelled my contract. I am happy that I am not part of this fiasco.
