Transformers: worst movie of 2014?

I disagree, there are worse movies out there... i.e. "The Amazing spiderman" where the actor isn't Tobey Maguire. These movie were ALOT worse then transformers so how is this title correct?

Sorry but that movie killed the series in it's whole, they destroyed Spider-Man. Unfortunate.

This is true, though we should be seeing more movies like Pacific Rim which derived its story from anime(Neon Genesis Evangelion). This could open up a few areas and new ideas. But as we all know Hollywood like to milk an idea until it's a completely dead haha.
 
Funny this came out today, I watched old Bad Boys II on Netflix last night and I remember years ago thinking it was a disappointing sequel. Comparing it to any recent action movies I've seen, it's a class above.

What is happening to the industry?

Say what? Pacific Rim derived from NGE? have you watched NGE?
 
I didn't bother to go watch the latest transformers, but I did watch TMNT which was bad and Left Behind which must be the worst movie in recent times. It's so bad that the Golden Raspberry guys didn't even bother with it.

Yes I have watched NGE I was just using the most referential anime as Pacific Rim idea of piloting a giant robot may have come from NGE, the fact that the pilots are over the age of 16/18 breaks the NGE guide line. This was just to highlight the fact that the ideas have a different source sometimes(sorry for offending the anime lover in you :) )

No, they know they'll make money - afaik Transformers: Age of Extinction was the only movie of 2014 to break $1 billion at the box office.

They probably don't give a hoot about being nominated for 7 Rasberries if they raked in over a billion Dollars.
Nevertheless, of the 10 highest grossing films, only Interstellar isn't a isnt a reboot, sequel of part of a franchise.

And most of that was in Asian markets, apparently giant robots are a sure fire winner in Asia.
 
Actually the first Transformer I have enjoyed is Age of Extinction. The previous ones I can't really watch all the way through...

At a superficial level, they are similar, but there is enough history of giant robot movies and giant monster movies in Japan that I don't think NGE itself was much of a source. I mean, there are plenty of Japanese giant robot and monster stories, we just don't hear about most of them.

So just because they both involve giant robots and giant monsters, they aren't necessarily that similar.
