How DStv channels get to your house

Witchcraft?

Truth be told, I want to know who controls the advertisements...because that is a mess. Sometimes when watching a program a DStv advertisement pops up mid "story" and when we are taken back, we've missed what ever is going on.

I record most of the stuff I want to watch, except the sport, cos then I can forward the ads. :D

At the moment I have a few movies waiting for me, just haven't had time to watch it yet. One day. ;)

Love Discovery channel, I never miss Fast & Loud.

I've watched every episode 2-3 times. :D

I record every episode, watch it again over the weekend and waiting to get my hands on the season blu-rays.

The black Chevrolet Bel-Air in today's episode looked absolutely fantastic!!

The channels give DSTV times of when the ad breaks will be, DSTV then schedule ads to be played at these times. It seems that often the channels don't stick to their scheduled breaks

And that, boys and girls, is why you should be grateful for your DSTV 2015 price increase.

How DSTV channels get to a house ?

lots of precious $$$ every month

Nice article, rpm. I'd be interested to see a follow up on the satellite side with a bit more explanation there. Interesting stuff.

Why must 576i be MPEG2?

Because MPEG2 TS (Transport Stream) is the standard for digital broadcast world-wide - adopted in the late 90's / early 2000's. The same as MPEG4 or H.264 was adopted for HD broadcasts.
