Receiving of international SMS from most countries NOT possible at all

Hi there,

I thought it's time to register here :)
There are quite a few threads already about this issue. I ported my number from MTN to Telkom mobile but this issue is NOT related to this fact as it had been mentioned in most of the other threads as well as here: Telkom Mobile SMS delivery problem

According to their document they only offer one way communication for most of the countries and networks. Just a few have a full two way communication available.
And sender will not be notified about. They just send SMSs which will never be received!

This has not been mentioned when I made the contract! Even worse, they opened a ticket for this issue and the technician who called me back from Pretoria was not aware of it and told me the international team is busy resolving this issue on executive level! It should just take another 1 to 2 weeks!

That ticket had been opened with not receiving SMSs from Germany specifically but according to the linked document above, there is only one way communication with the networls there.

Hope, this helps others who may concider moving to Telkom mobile but need international SMSs.

If your number was ported over to Telkom Mobile it's not possible to receive any international SMS. I am assuming this had to do with the routing table,updating it with all the provides worldwide........ Maybe in the near future it's possible.

I receive international sms' from certain overseas SPs.
 
Hi All,
I seem to be having this problem even now in 2022. Is there a solve for this?
 
Anyone that has similar issue and can shed some light? Not a very popular topic. :(

Tekom wants me to activte Iternational roaming, while I have no plans to travel. I have done that, still NOT winning with Telkom, just going circles and they keep closing my fault.
 
Thanks. Is one able to port whilst still on a contract or do you wait for contract to end?
Would appreciate some views on that? Can’t wait to move away from Telkom.
