Hi

They came to install my Neotel Wireless Broadband 4meg LTE and it works very good. I was just disappointed that they gave me a Netgear MBRN3000 router that is not so great.

What other modems can be used on this product other than the Netgear?

Hi Nelca,

You can used any router / even device, as the "hard" work is done by the outside router. The Netgear acts just like a AP (Wifi to Ethernet converter!) You can even put a PC, (windows or linux), or even a Raspberry. Anything that has a Ethernet port, Wifi and the ability to configure it! It's really not worth doing it this way. All these Netgear/Zyxcel etc will work fine. It's just a personal choice mostly, and if the router has some nice fancy distro that can give you the functionality you want/need. Even an old Linksys with custom flash to do some nice reporting stats on the link is do-able.

Some routers has better Wifi signal then others. The original Neotel LTE (indoor) router - the white Hauwei one that Telkom and MTN also sell, had particularly bad Wifi, due to the fact that the antenna for Wifi was built into the device.

If Wifi signals is your problem, don't always blame the device, if you had a good builder, and he installed that wire reinforcing every 3-4 rows in brick walls, even that can limit your range easy.
