We're getting Karl! Well, kinda Karl. The new Chevy Spark is based on its Opel sibling, and that means a new chassis and a new engine, plus scads of standard tech. It also comes in a color: Toasted Marshmallow. Yum.

Aside from the new sheetmetal that's about 1.6-inches lower and gets a small boost in wheelbase, the biggest upgrade is the Ecotec 1.4-liter four cylinder that bangs out 98 horsepower.

Fitted with the CVT, GM claims it'll hit 40 MPG on the freeway and slightly less with the standard five-speed manual.

The interior's been given a makeover, with better fabrics, upgraded plastics, and more foam in the seats. Chevy is so proud of it that they… didn't release any photos. Odd…

The MyLink system also gets an upgrade, with a 7-inch capacitive touchscreen and a real, honest volume knob.

Every Spark now comes standard with a back-up camera, while forward collision alert, lane departure warning, rear park assist, and blind spot alerts are optional.

Chevy will be selling the new Spark in 40 different markets and production is set to begin in GM's South Korea factory before sales begin later this year.

If Top Gear still existed:

Clarkson: Ladies and gentlemen, the 2016 Spark.
May: Oh, cock.
Hammond: What? It’s a norm- oh, wait, THAT’S IT? Eew! Eeeeeeew!
May: You know what it looks like?
Clarkson: What?
May: It looks like the old Spark made babies with a Mustang.
Hammond: Hold on, hold on. But then wouldn’t it look good?
May: No.
Clarkson: What?
May: Well, let’s just say... the Spark had a night in Europe.....
(Clarkson and Hammond laughing)
May: And it instead made love to an Opel Corsa
(Clarkson and Hammond laugh harder now, Clarkson snorts)
(Screen fades while they are laughing)
(Clip Ends)

mmmmm my much older car gets 6.3l per 100km and is most likly heavier and has a 1.6l engine instead of this 1.4l one. This does not seem so impressive considering this is a much newer engine then? Considering the 5.9l per 100km is also the manufacturer figures, pretty sure you can add on to that a little. Mine is actual every day driving figure.

Conversion of 40 MPG (USA) in L 100km (liters/litres per 100 km) is 5.9 liters per 100km. Cars that get 40 mpg in USA would consume 5.9 liters of petrol if it was .

My ST gives me an avg of 6.1L/100km att 120 on highway. If I were to drive at 100, it would drop below, and it's a 1.6 Turbo. So what makes this so special?

Looks like another Korean, just a crappier colour.

The cost of entry.

your ST isn't exactly cheap and probably costs 3 or 4 times as much as this car.

Capacity means nothing.

What is the Kw output of your car? What do you drive?

It does look better in Spark form. Pity they won't clone it into a Buick, that would have looked... erm... interesting.

Oh look its a Kiayundai Grand Picanto with a Chevy badge
