Councils told to pay Eskom or else

No need to look into a crystal ball to see what the future holds should these councils start withholding services from its residents due to a lack of funds. Toy-toying, looting, burning, pillaging, destroying of all facilities incl schools, libraries, police stations etc. then, this useless govt bowing to the pressure of the " masses" and bailing out those municipalities and reinstating services. In the meantime, electricity will still be stolen on a mass scale, and Eskom and the govts incompetence at collecting this debts firstly, and halting the wholesale stealing of power will be further exacerbated. Yippee Yay, another glorious day !

You can be sure that SOWETO will never, ever have the need to defend themselves over their known malpractices and fraudulent activities. :twisted:

The next thing should be that we will see it becoming more and more of an independent "blindspot" for the South African Government. :twisted:

I disagree.
Yes, there will be protests and rightly (paying customers) or wrongly (freeloaders) so.
The fact is that the national government is running out of cash to fund all the corruption and mismanagement and the party is over.
Their solution is to target municipalities in outlying areas where mass protests can be more easily controlled and has less effect on voter support.
The ANC led government are having their hands forced to start being more accountable about spending and that is a good thing IMO.

Probably because Municipalities are legal entities and Eskoms end user in this case.

Soweto is supplied direct and thus I assume every legal user is Eskoms end user. There their problem is many legal users in arrears, legal users that are paid up and then illegal connections. Disconnecting the Top 20 legal users in arrears (the same amount of work as now) will not bring in billions.

Which would you choose? ;)
1. Licking 20 stamps in return for a R10 000 payment
2. Licking 20 stamps in return for a R1 million payment
