Why MTN’s workers went on strike

still amazes me how workers/students/vagrants reckon its OK to just go around making demands, and employers/universities/councils/taxpayers just need to fall in and cough up.
F! most of us have to take what we get, be thankful for having a job, and if we so unhappy that we cant handle it anymore, then our rights are that we can pack our sh!!t and GTFO.
i also don't get free transport, have to pay my own petrol.
these fkrs need to start realising there are wayyy many people that will be very eager to accept any job, even these jobs that MTN workers are so unhappy about.

they moan about a 4% bonus... clearly don't realise/care that 1000s of companies who also didnt do well financially, couldnt give any bonus. in fact thousands of workers in other companies got marching orders and got retrenched coz their companies couldnt afford them anymore

its another culture the anc has been pushing for years, that really needs to end if we want to see growth in the economy

Maybe you should just accept that despite popular rethoric 'they' are simply different from you. Your value systems are different, your world view differs, you come from different cultural backgrounds and community structures. Your reactions to authority & threats will differ. I know the we-are-all-the-same crowd is having a fit round about now, just stay calm and breathe in slowly, breathe out slowly.. You'll be fine in minute or so.

I am sitting here by myself in the dark 'cos I got complacent due to not having been loadshed at all this year so I burned through my supply of candles and none of my gas bottles have gas as I've been working crazy hours again. It'll teach me, but the silence and single candle stub is kinda nice. Didn't realise exactly how pleasant a total break from tech could be. Says the guy on his cell phone :-/

You know what, I'm angry & frustrated as much as any of you. I've blown off steam on this forum my views are public record. Let's understand one thing though.. call each other baboons and cockroaches, and tell stories about how ****ing stupid blacks are, or how the only race more destructive than blacks are the whites. Everyone has a chuckle as the main boer falls off his horse, and we make funny memes of that bastard Mugabe in a funny tripping pose. Ha ha. Not just black & white, have you seen how the athiests & christians are at each other throats all day long? We'll probably never see eye to eye & hate or curse each other forever & I can kinda live with that.

What's not acceptable to me though is the use of the k-word, insinuated or not. I will not have it, not on a public forum without anyone saying something about it.

Whites have treated blacks very badly for a very long time no matter how anyone spins it. We've agreed to stop our **** so we can live in peace, I know the ANC has hijacked that dream and I probably detest Zuma and 'them' even more than you.. but years ago we apologised with the hope that we could reconcile, so I will not keep quiet when someone uses that word to hurt blacks.

If you feel different then fine, carry on. Tonight made me realize I been caught up in my own anger for too long, I need way more music, sunshine, sex and psychedelic drugs in my life, not neccecarily in that order. So I don't think I'll miss this forum all that much.

Please, have some respect. You see Zuma in your mind's eye when you say ******, but you're hurting a mother of six kids who had a very hard life and doesn't really understand why white people treated simple people so badly all those years.

You & I know their leaders are robbing the country blind, and we're angry 'cos it could have been so much better but people like my old lady example saw improvement in their lives. Even 'they' aren't all the same, surprisingly.

I remember we promised, so we owe them that we don't go back to our old ways again. Regardless. We do & say stuff that's forgivable, however, that word is simply not in my eyes. Never again.

Wow, I hope there is someone there to cancel my contract on the 29th.

Isn't it the employee's duty to get too and from work? Why should the company pay for that? As for the bonus? Well, most South Africans have become a bunch of self-serving parasites with an overwhelming sense of entitlement.

These lazy things went on strike because they can, because the ANC said they are entitled, because of mob mentality and because these things dont care about anyone else but themselves.

Nothing you can do now, but when you re-hire, remember this moment MTN ..... hire someone of better value next time.

Next thing women will be demanding the vote and access to education. Now there could be a sensible discussion about reasonable and unreasonable demands, about union leadership that puts politics and grandstanding above the good of their members, employers that lie to, manipulate and abuse their employees, and would rather damage the economy than come to a reasonable agreement.
