Several delegates attending the Pan African Parliament were robbed outside their hotel entrance in Midrand, Gauteng police said on Monday.

They were attacked on Friday night while in their shuttle bus, which had picked them up from the airport, spokesperson Lungelo Dlamini said in a statement.

Police were looking at security footage to try and identify the suspects.

Nobody was injured.

The shuttle driver, Thandazani Mabuza, told broadcaster eNCA that when he rolled down his window to get a card from the security guard at the Protea Hotel Midrand's entrance, he was held up.

“There were two guys, pulling a gun, at my side. They took the key for the car, and then they said ‘where’s the money? Where’s cellphones?' Then they started to search everyone in the car.”

They stole hand luggage containing with cash, cellphones, and passports.

The delegates were from Cape Verde, Ethiopia, Ghana, Benin, Mozambique and the UK.

Oh! Good to see they got the proper South African welcome.

No crises here.

Said it before , south africa has turned into the perfect environment for criminal activity to flourish.

Obviously those who want to leave are reactionary scumbags. Why leave such good things behind?

Our rulers want to copy the European Parliament but such things do not happen in Brussels.

This is not the first time PAN delegates have been targeted...by the regularity these incidents, one can tell the police/government truly cares. Again not ahead of an issue...waiting to catch up to a crises...when a fatality occurs, only then you will see the action...
