Windows 10: should users upgrade?

Having used the technical preview of Windows 10, I can safely say that I will be updating both my laptop (Windows 8.1) and my Desktop (Windows 7 Ultimate) to Windows 10. It is a very smooth and easy to use interface, of course it will take a while for everyone to get used to it but IMO I think Microsoft have hit something close to a home run here.

I checked in control panel->check for updates and got this, it says windows 10 upgrade reserved and I have a mighty big update coming in at the moment which I guess is the upgrade.upgrade.jpg

Win 7 in a nutshell: OK back end, great front end.

Win 8.1 in a nutshell: Great back end, horrible front end.

What will Win 10 be?

What about Windows 8.1 tablets would you say its a good fit in your opinion?

So basically the things to consider when asking the question is: UPGRADE NAOW!!!

Awesome argument.

Win 8.1 in a nutshell: All the ends are exactly the same as 7 except slight performance improvements and Metro is stuck on but easily gotten rid of.

Fixed

Windows 10 is Windows 8 packaged slightly differently so that stupid people confuse it with Windows 7 and no longer have the ability use the "change scares me" excuse...

Well W7 will still have support untill 2020, so im good.

But I will install it on a 40GB drive just to mess around.

Windows 10 is about more then that feature you use to share "Linux" with your flat mates:

- new browser
- new search capabilities
- new security features
- issues with updates being forced (Always up to date windows)
- Multiple desktops (how is everyone missing this?) along with small productivity improvements such as snapping
- control panel vs settings app which causes some confusion
- Universal apps

Gad damn it it's back again 30% now.

It will download the update in stages to save on bandwidth.

Edit: My update folder is approximately 140MB in size. I'll probably be downloading the rest of it later today.

Will be interesting to see when corporates will be adopting Windows 10.

The only issue i have with the windows 10 upgrade is that it makes your licence an OEM licence meaning that it is limited to that device you install it on so what happens if you purchase a new motherboard or a new pc as a whole?

I am confused here.

Do I need the whole 3GB at once to upgrade or bit by bit?. I am still on expensive Vodacom 3G.

I'm keeping my win7 disk for this purpose. Although, through Unisa, I'll probably get a another free copy..
